Deb's Sydney Cove

Walk & Talk

Harbour Heritage | Human Spirit

Why Sydney Cove?

Apart from being spectacularly beautiful, this little corner of the harbour, and the city, has great stories to tell!

We'll take in The Cove from a bird's-eye view, discover what determined where the settlement was built, and wander through The Rocks, where this fledgling colony struggled to find its feet.

We'll uncover the challenges that threatened the young settlement and meet the people who fought to survive, adapt and build a future here.

Along the way, we'll meet the characters behind the famous icons, then discover how Sydney grew into the vibrant, multicultural city it is today.

It's where you'll find the best Sydney stories.

Looking from Dawes Point to the Opera House on Bennelong Point.

Why Deb's tour?

A career built around history and stories: For much of my working life, I’ve been surrounded by history, culture and stories. I delight in bringing that experience from Sydney's cultural sector to the streets of the city I call home.

Small groups make a big difference: I keep my tours small because I want to get to know the people I’m walking with. There’s time to stop, look, ask questions, share a laugh and, at the end, sit down together over coffee and a pastry. It feels more like exploring Sydney together than being part of a crowd.

Leave seeing Sydney a little differently: My aim isn’t to fill your head with dates and facts and send you on your way. I want you to leave with a better understanding of the people who shaped this city; their agonies, their ecstasies, and spectacular wins and fails.

I have lived in Sydney for almost 50 years but had no idea what an interesting place Sydney Cove is and the stories I would hear on Deb's walking tour. Highly recomended for a local or someone visiting from overseas or interstate.
